Budgeee (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Budgeee app, why we collect it, and how it’s handled. By using Budgeee, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are
Budgeee is a cash-first travel expense tracking app. This policy covers the Budgeee mobile app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you create an account, we collect information such as:
- your first and last name
- your email address
- if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, the basic profile information they make available to us (typically your name and email address).
We may use trusted third-party service providers to help us provide authentication, account management and related services. See Section 6 for more information about the third-party services we use.
We also store certain account preferences, such as your home currency, time zone, onboarding progress and notification preferences, to personalise your experience and provide app functionality.
Trip and expense data
To provide Budgeee’s features, we store information you choose to add, including:
- Trip names, descriptions, dates and cover images
- Expenses, categories, notes and timestamps
- Wallet balances and cash transactions
- Currencies, exchange rates and custom exchange rates
- Withdrawal and currency exchange records
- Optional location information attached to expenses.
Location information
With your permission, Budgeee may access your location while you are actively using the app to:
- Suggest nearby places
- Infer local currency
- Help you tag expenses with locations.
We do not collect background location information and do not access your location while the app is closed. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.
Photos
If you choose to add a cover image to a trip, Budgeee will request access to your photo library only after you grant permission. We only access the specific photos you choose to upload.
Images are stored only for the purpose of displaying your trip cover. If you remove a cover image or delete the associated trip, the image is deleted from our systems and is no longer retained. We do not keep copies of deleted images, and we do not access or store any other photos from your photo library.
Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we collect and store a device notification token so we can send notifications you have chosen to receive, such as trip reminders, spending summaries and account-related updates. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
Device and usage data
We collect limited technical information about your device and use analytics and crash reporting tools to help us understand how Budgeee is used and to improve reliability. This may include:
- Device type
- Operating system
- App version
- Anonymous device identifiers
- App interactions (such as screens viewed and features used)
- Crash reports and diagnostic information.
We also use crash reporting and diagnostic tools that may capture information about how the app was being used immediately before an error occurred. This helps us diagnose and fix issues more quickly. These recordings are used solely for debugging, troubleshooting and improving the app.
These tools are not used to access the contents of your individual expense entries.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect or store your bank account numbers, card numbers, or any direct access to your financial accounts. Budgeee is a travel expense tracking app that relies on information you choose to enter. It does not connect directly to your bank accounts or financial institutions.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate the core features of Budgeee (logging expenses, tracking trips, multi-currency conversion, location tagging)
- Maintain your account and let you sign in securely
- Fix bugs and improve app stability
- Understand how people use Budgeee so we can improve it
- Send you emails related to your account (see Section 7)
- Meet legal obligations where applicable
- Provide customer support
- Deliver notifications and emails you’ve chosen to receive
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your expense data to show you ads.
4. Where your data is stored
Your information is stored using secure third-party cloud infrastructure and may be processed by trusted service providers that help us operate Budgeee. Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with trusted service providers that help us operate Budgeee. Depending on the features you use, these providers may assist with:
- Authentication and account management
- Cloud hosting and data storage
- Subscription and billing management
- Email delivery
- Push notifications
- Analytics and product improvement
- Crash reporting and diagnostics
- Maps and location services
We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety or security of Budgeee, our users or others.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
Budgeee relies on trusted third-party providers to deliver parts of the service, including:
- Authentication
- Cloud hosting and secure data storage
- Subscription and payment management
- Analytics and crash reporting
- Email delivery
- Push notifications
- Maps and location services.
These providers process personal information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and in accordance with their own privacy policies.
7. Email communications
We may send emails relating to:
- Account creation and verification
- Onboarding
- Trip reminders and summaries
- Subscription and billing
- Product updates and feature announcements
- Account deletion
- Customer support.
You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time via the unsubscribe link, or by contacting us directly. We may still need to send essential account-related emails (e.g. security notices).
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Export your data
To exercise any of these, contact us at support@budgeee.app. We’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe and in line with applicable law.
You can also revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings - this will disable location-based expense tagging but won’t affect the rest of the app.
9. Data retention
We retain your account and trip data while your account remains active.
If you request deletion of your account, your account is first deactivated and enters a 30-day recovery period. During this time, you may restore your account by signing in again.
If the account is not restored within 30 days, we permanently delete or anonymise your personal information unless we are required to retain certain information for legal, accounting or regulatory purposes.

10. Children’s privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical, administrative and organisational safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we continually work to maintain appropriate safeguards and rely on trusted infrastructure providers that implement industry-standard security measures.
12. International users
Budgeee may process and store data outside your home country. By using Budgeee, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws from those in your home country.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you through the app or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
